What Is Poke?

The concept of poking is to stay back from the enemy team and to pick off enemies before they manage to get close enough to cause some real damage and interrupt the match. Poke players require great accuracy and domination of sniper play, as they will be using long sight lines to their advantage to lock down areas and angles, ensuring that squishy enemies don't stand a chance, and the enemy team is forced to retreat away. However, Poke does suffer from weaker members, where up-close fights will cause a struggle.

The main idea of a Poke team composition in Overwatch 2 is to get picks on the enemy team - it's all about pressuring certain angles and limiting how the enemy can play. It works best on maps with long sight lines, such as Junkertown.

For the Poke composition, Sigma is really the only Tank that sees the most play. D.Va can be used if the map has some trickier high ground to cover, but Sigma is a much better pick.

The Damage Heroes that fit best in a Poke composition are Widowmaker and Hanzo. These two Heroes need to work together for this composition to work - Hanzo needs to place his Sonic Arrows in spots that will allow the Widowmaker to secure kills before the enemy even has a chance to react. Players who struggle to use Hanzo could switch him out for Torbjorn instead. Torbjorn is great at putting extra pressure on the enemy team, giving the Widowmaker an opening to pick them off.

Support Heroes in a Poke composition have much less pressure to sustain heals on their team. This composition is incredibly self-sufficient, so Heroes such as Zenyatta and Baptiste can add even more pressure and damage to the mix. Mercy is another good pick, as she can provide a damage boost to her team.

What Is Dive?

Dive is highly competitive, and requires a coordinated team effort to have the best composition in Overwatch 2. The aspects of dive will rely on putting pressure on the enemy team's backline, catching them out of prediction to try and cause them to make mistakes, and getting picked off one by one. Most dive characters have high vertical and horizontal mobility, as well as the advantage of escaping from the fight when necessary. Dive is hard to coordinate, and a challenge that higher-tier teams will try out.

Dive is one of the more flexible team compositions in Overwatch 2. Dive is most effective on maps with some sort of high ground - the idea is to dive onto the enemy team on the high ground and force them onto lower levels. However, Dive does require a lot of coordination to pull off. This composition works best when players can locate a vulnerable target and send multiple players to quickly eliminate them.

For Damage players, Tracer is an integral character to use in a Dive composition. The other Damage slot can be filled by several characters. Sombra is excellent for picking vulnerable targets and hacking them, allowing her team to easily secure a kill. Sojourn is also a great pick, as she has plenty of mobility to allow her to play more aggressively than other Overwatch 2 characters. Genji is also a much more traditional pick for a Dive team.

Overwatch 2: All Tank Heroes, Ranked

Bring the best tank in Overwatch 2 to ensure the enemy team is steamrolled, and the allies come out to sweet victory, every time.

There are several Tank Heroes that can be played in a Dive team - namely Winston, D.Va, Wrecking Ball, and Doomfist. All of these characters have plenty of mobility that allows them to dive in and out of fights. They also have lots of synergy with Tracer, as they can quickly hop on the Tracer's target, making it much easier to secure kills.

Support has plenty of Heroes viable in a Dive team. Kiriko, in particular, is very strong, thanks to her ability to teleport in and out of fights quickly. Mercy is also a great pick thanks to her high healing output - she can counter the aggression her team will be taking and keep them alive for longer.

What Is Brawl?

Brawl is a comp team that relies on a heavy-hitting tank, like Reinhardt, and they will often stick as a unit, proceeding to engage in combat for extended periods of time for time-consuming battles that require plenty of healing abilities, like lifesteal and armor capabilities. Brawl characters tend to have a way of healing, as well as close-range abilities and weapons to keep the pressure on enemies and force them into a chaotic battle with only one team standing as the victor.

Running a Brawl team in Overwatch 2 essentially means players can expect some close-range fights. Players will be trying to burst down their enemies from close up or finding a way to close the gap between them.

The Brawl composition in Overwatch 2 focuses on three main tanks - Junker Queen, Zarya, and Reinhardt. These Heroes all have pretty aggressive play styles and can force their way through certain areas. As long as they're being healed well enough, they can win many fights simply by just out-damaging the enemy.

Overwatch 2: Best Heroes For New FPS Players

New FPS players in Overwatch 2 may want to consider these heroes when learning the ropes.

One of the best Damage characters for a Brawl composition is Mei. She can wall off enemy Tanks and enable her team to secure kills by slowing enemies down, making it almost impossible for them to escape. Cassidy is also a great pick - his damage is incredibly flexible, which means he can deal with a lot of situations that may arise. He can fall back to protect his backline or play much more aggressively when needed.

Lucio is almost a must-pick for a Brawl team. His Speed Boost is incredible; it allows his team to take a sudden, aggressive approach to their attack and makes it much easier to punish bad positioning by the enemy team. Ana's Nano Boost is perfect for her to use on her Tanks, and her high, burst healing output helps to enable the more aggressive playstyle her team will be taking.

4 Poke-Brawl Combination

Flexible Team Comp For Various Fights

Overwatch 2: Best Team Comps You Should Try (7)

This team composition takes elements from both Poke and Brawl teams and combines them so that players can pick and choose their battles a bit more.

Tanks that can work for both Poke and Brawl are Orisa and Ramattra. These Heroes are a lot more flexible in their playstyles. Essentially, the Tank needs to figure out what the enemy Tank is strongest at and play the opposite of that. For example, if the enemy has a Reinhardt, Orisa can take the fight much better from a distance and should be able to win the engagement. However, the flexibility these Tanks provide means that if the enemy pushes up on the player's team, they still have a way of defending themselves.

The idea behind this composition is to have plenty of flexibility. This means that the Damage slots can be filled by just about anyone. It's up to the players to figure out how to counter what the enemy is playing or play into the rest of their team's strengths.

Additionally, because this composition allows a lot of flexibility for Support players, there are plenty of options for players to choose from. However, a general rule is to have one Support that can sustain high healing and keep the Tank alive, such as Baptiste or Ana. The other Support should provide a bit more utility, such as Lucio or Brigitte.

3 Zarya/Bastion

Unlimited Power That Creates Offense in Defense

Another duo that players should try out is the teamwork between Zarya and Bastion, two characters who are deadly in their own right, but synergize to create an endless supply of team kills. Zarya's potential to shield herself and her allies makes her a great pick, as damage dealt to shields is converted into damage she can expunge from her weapon.

Meanwhile, Bastion's turret is beyond deadly, so enemies are going to want to target Bastion to try and get him out of the field, only to be surprised when a Zarya pops a shield to protect this deadly robot. The high-damage capability that comes from this pairing will annoy many opposing teams, all whilst Zarya and Bastion rack up the eliminations to showcase their potential.

2 Wrecking Ball and Kiriko

Push Around The Competition Whilst Curing Allies

Wrecking Ball is a tricky Tank to learn, but a true nuisance in the right hands. With Wrecking Ball paired with Kiriko, players will have a steady stream of healing, damage, and ways to escape. Wrecking Ball and Kiriko can get out of trouble fast, so pairing the two together seems only natural, especially when Kiriko's healing output allows her to make sure Wrecking Ball withstands the heat, even if his own abilities already allow for such a thing.

The duo of Wrecking Ball and Kiriko is all players need for efficient teamwork, since as long as these two are sticking together, getting behind enemy teams to push them around and keep them distracted from the objective, long enough for the team to roll in and provide assistance.

1 PharMercy

Death From Above

Overwatch 2: Best Team Comps You Should Try (8)

Whilst it doesn't involve the whole team, combining Pharah and Mercy can be deadly enough to wipe out the competition. These two work perfectly together, as Pharah's abilities allow her to soar through the sky, and remain there almost indefinitely. Paired with Mercy's wings and ability to stick to her teammates, she can remain by Pharah's side, providing a constant stream of healing and damage buffs when needed.

PharMercy has been a deadly combo since the first days of Overwatch, and even years into Overwatch 2, the duo remain just as vital as ever. Pharah can easily push enemies about, controlling zones with death from above, all whilst Mercy provides essential support. The duo are hard to hit for how high up they can go, and how quick they can move, making them agile and dangerous.
