Putting Together A Fruit Salad with a Twist

This is such a perfect salad for summer!

Step 1

Throw a ton of fruit into a giant bowl. So technical, right? I used strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, grapes, cantaloupe and watermelon.

Step 2

Add juice from 1 lemon.

Step 3

And then throw in a little something that’ll make people say, “Mmm, what IS that?!” Dry pudding mix! I used vanilla flavor, but feel free to experiment!

Step 4

Mix it all together and chill until you are ready to serve. Enjoy!

Question?? Could i put dry vanilla in without the lemon or no??
    Thank you

Hi Heidi, good question! You can use water if you’d like. There’s liquid in the fruits you’re mixing, but you might need a little more to help mix the pudding in. I like the citrus component but if you don’t, that’s ok.

I would say do it same day of you want it fresher. Fruit will get to mushy/soggy (for my liking) if you let it sit over night. But maybe the lemon squeezed on it will help not do that….?

Thank you! I did not think of mushy fruit. I’ll do it early Sun 🙂

Just curious if you have tried freezing it before serving and if it worked? I want to make this for my sons birthday party this weekend and it is going to be crazy hot outside so I was wondering if freezing would help the fruit last longer. Or if I would just end up with a frozen lump of fruit stuck together. Thanks for the recipe!

Amber: The pudding mix doesn't make it syrupy sweet, it just gives the sweetness a hint of flavor. It is delicious!
    Marilee: Either will work great!

    Hope this helps, ladies!

Does the pudding mix make the fruit salad really sweet and syrupy, like when you put sugar on fruit? I love fruit salad but I don't usually like it when sugar is added. I want my fruit salad to taste like fruit, not sugar!

Hi Karen! It might sound weird, but it is sooo good! It does make the fruit sweeter AND add a yummy flavor. Let it sit in the fridge for an hour and it's SO GOOD! Enjoy. 🙂

This sounds weird, to just throw in some vanilla pudding mix….dry. Does it make the fruit sweeter? Or just add a different flavor to the fruit? Does it taste better if eaten right away, or after an hour or two? Thanks
