Job DescriptionThe Director of Endovascular Services is responsible for leadership, direction, and coordination of day-to-day activities in Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital for cardiology surgical services departments, to include: Vascular Surgical Service Lines (cardiac catherization laboratories, interventional radiology laboratories, pre- and post- catherization lab care, non-invasive cardiac imaging, perfusion, electrophysiology, Cardiac Pavilion and ECG services).The Director of Endovascular Services participates in developing and implementing operational plans to operate the hospital-based units/departments that support the cardiology surgical service lines. The Director participates in developing and implementing unit budgets, performance improvement activities, staffing plans, recruitment and retention efforts and standards of patient care. The Director of Endovascular Services promotes the use of evidence-based practice to guide clinical care and decisions and lives by the Forces of Magnetism (day-to-day activities that promote Centra's Magnet Culture of Staff Recognition and Retention).

ResponsibilitiesUnderstands retention strategies and works with staff to reduce turnover rates.

Provides leadership by developing, communicating, implementing and evaluating the mission, goals, and objectives of the designated departments.

Maintains accountability for the financial management and oversight of the assigned service lines and departments.

Meets volume and productivity projections.

Evaluates pros/cons of affiliation opportunities to achieve operating efficiencies or volume growth.

Further develops service line sub-specialization as warranted. Increases access to care for needed services

Monitors patient/customer satisfaction survey reports and develops action plans to meet established targets.

Develops community relationships to promote health care planning for the continuum of care and to promote community relationship with the hospital.

Serves on standing and ad-hoc committees.

Improves service by using feedback from staff, physicians, patients, and other Centra leaders.

Implements patient safety goals and monitors outcomes

Develops, communicates, implements, and evaluates institution and designated service area policies and regulatory requirements.

Develops, communicates, implements, and evaluates ongoing performance improvement plan for the designated service lines/departments consistent with the hospital and department plan.

Establishes, communicates, and enforces high standards for the quality of care delivered.

Supports, develops, and implements strategies to decrease hospital LOS, readmission rates, Surgical site infections, and other designated quality metrics

Effectively manages human resources to optimize both the patient and employee fulfillment

Develops and monitors financial and operational metrics and works to implement strategies to achieve established goals

QualificationsRequired Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Health related field. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Business, or related field.

Preferred Education: MSN or currently enrolled in program.

Required Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in nursing or healthcare-related leadership experience.

Required Certification & Licensures: Hold a current, active license as a registered nurse in Virginia or hold a current multistate licensure privilege as a registered nurse.
